Refocus & Reignite — 4 Ways to Get Back YOUR Mojo
It’s so easy to lose momentum after that Q1 excitement dies down. Nobody’s checking in with you about your goals, and to be honest, you have forgotten them a little bit. A trip-up or two makes you feel slightly inadequate and as if it might not even be worth the trouble of restarting (again) where you left off. At the same time — we all know how important it is to strive for something. Staying intentional with your time and energy can make all the difference in Q2 and Q3.
I encourage you to look at this time of year as a fresh new opportunity to recommit as you refine your process.
Checking in on your goals is one of the major indicators of how well you will achieve them.
Instead of waiting until the end of the year to course-correct, this is your chance to refine your approach and keep moving forward with clarity. In this post, we’ll walk through practical ways to reassess your progress, adjust where needed, and create an actionable plan to stay on track.
This is also part of the Get It Together series, where I’m sharing simple yet effective ways to bring more organization and intention into daily life.
Reflect on Q1 Progress
The first step is to review what worked and what didn’t. Identify patterns in progress and plateaus.
A few questions to gain some clarity:
- What was I too ambitious about?
- What went well? What didn’t?
- What motivates me right now?
This is also the time to give space for what went well. A win, no matter how small, is still a win. Consider what challenges you have been facing in reaching your goals. Which of these could have been avoided with some prep work? Think about challenges that are unavoidable and make a simple plan for these possibilities.
Reassess Priorities & Adjust Goals
Take a self-inventory and truly think about what it is you want. Maybe your values or your vision for the year has already changed. Confirm that your goals still align with the person you are working towards being. Make strategic pivots if necessary—sometimes letting go of a goal is just as important as setting one.
Create an Actionable Plan for Q2 & Q3
Now is the time to break those goals down into tiny, bite-sized steps. You are far more likely to follow through if you have a plan in place beforehand. Give yourself quick wins and deadlines for everything possible. Utilize planning tools like note-taking apps (I use Notion), habit trackers, a bullet journal, or even an accountability buddy.
Map out the steps you will take to reach your goal. I do this by starting with the end in mind and working backwards. A trick I began implementing when planning our homeschool days, I now work backwards from pretty much every big project. Do you.
Stay Intentional with Your Time & Energy
Time to get stingy with your time. Take an inventory of exactly how you have been utilizing your hours throughout the day and be honest with yourself. Once you find where your time is being “wasted” set yourself up for success the next time these opportunities arise. If you spend your forty minute train ride scrolling socials, maybe consider a more productive use of that “limbo time”.
It turns out, grammatically, “No” is not a full sentence… but you can still stop at it when you need to. Conserve your precious time and other resources for you and your goals first. Give others and outsiders your overflow, not your reserves. Protect your most motivated hours and energized times of day for what truly brings you fulfillment. Set some boundaries and balance your productivity with your down-time so that you can maintain a good pace through Q2 and Q3.
Monthly Check-Ins & Course-Correction
I schedule monthly meetings with myself all of the time. I block out a time on my calendar and do my best to create an environment that I will likely not be interrupted. This is a great way to check regular progress and have a set time to compare and adjust my strategy. Pay yourself enough attention to delve into what is working and what needs some adjustments by pausing long enough to check in.
This is the time to stay mindful and flexible while keeping long-term goals in focus.
The middle of the year isn’t a time to let goals slip away—it’s a chance to refocus and reignite your motivation. By reflecting on Q1, adjusting your priorities, and putting a structured plan in place, you can move through Q2 and Q3 with purpose. Goals are fluid and ever-evolving as you do. Remember, small, intentional steps add up over time.
