Hawaii is home to some of the most breathtaking picnic spots in the world, making it the perfect place to indulge in a luxury outdoor dining experience. You truly cannot go wrong with the beaches here if you’re looking for a place to park it for a luxury picnic. That said, there’s something special in the few beach, park, and botanical garden locations listed below that I had to share.

Picnics in Paradise

Kapalua Bay is on Maui is nestled in a very tranquil cove so I had to mention it for those of you that might island hop while visiting.

Kapiolani Park is for those of us (me) who love to be able to see pretty for long distances. You’ll get awesome views of the mountains, if you’re into that (also me).

Kualoa Regional Park has great views of Chinaman’s Hat and is a great, grassy location that is very versatile.

Lanikai Beach is always gorgeous but has been hit or miss with how busy it becomes lately. If you catch it on a great day you’ll have just a few others nearby and be able to see the vast expanses clearly.

Limahuli Botanical Garden on Kauai is (from what I am told) an incredibly curated forest environment, lush and green all around. I still haven’t made it to this island yet, so let me know your thoughts if you have.

Lydgate Beach Park is protected by volcanic rock which also makes it an equally great spot for a dip on Kauai.

Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden is probably already on your list of places to see anyway, so just pack your luxury picnic for this trip. It’s a ways away from the airport so you likely won’t end up in the area twice.

Makapu’u Point Lookout is a high spot for a romantic sunset picnic or a peaceful gathering away from the crowds.

Makena Cove on Maui is a peaceful retreat with soft sand.

Waimea Valley Gardens are obviously beautiful and scenic, but there’s also a waterfall to cool off in, or take a tour—make it a whole day event.

Waipi’o Valley is another cliffside spot with breathtaking views—and you may catch a waterfall too. It’s located on the Big Island where you will get to check out black sand beaches!

No matter which location you choose, a luxury picnic in Hawaii is sure to be a magical experience. With stunning scenery, fresh ocean breezes, and delicious food, your perfect picnic is just a spot away. Wishing you warm weather and aloha.
