Part of the delight of a luxury picnic is the the setup and planning for it. I assume you are one of those people who thinks they might enjoy setting up a luxury picnic because you’re here. This brief guide will give you the outline to build your luxury picnic out as a memorable experience. I like to take my time in planning any micro event, just because I get very involved with tiny details. That said, you can probably set aside less than an hour to plan your luxury picnic. If you’ve got to do some shopping for your event times for that will obviously vary.
Plan The Experience
- Choose your location: in an area with good weather and nice views to enjoy.
- Build Out Your Menu: from appetizers to dessert. Create a cohesive menu with drinks to compliment the food items.
- Start prepping your supply list.
Packing Ahead
- Prep your food into airtight containers: choose dishes that will travel well but also store and pack or stack nicely.
- Wrap up utensils and serving dishes needed.
- Pack comfort essentials: like blankets, pillows, and other linens. Think about what would make things more cozy for you outside such as a sun canopy or bug repellent.
Time to Lay Things Out
- Foundation first: lay down a blanket or tarp, then tables, baskets, and large lawn games. Put out all the “furniture” first to make it easier to come in with the smaller items and add elegant touches.
- Lay out an inviting food and drink display last: use layers and height to add variation. Keep food safe and cold or warm (as applicable) for as long as possible.
Enjoy & Create Memories
- Indulge in your delicious spread, relax, and take it all in. Enjoy a moment of gratitude.
Breaking Down Afterwards
- Pack up and stow away your belongings first, then begin cleaning up.
- Properly store remaining food items for later
- Dispose of rubbish properly, leave the location better than you found it
